Choosing a manicure or pedicure involves two decisions: the nail-care treatment you want and the polish finish you prefer. An express visit and a longer spa treatment can offer different experiences, even when you choose the same polish. At Avalon Salon & Spa in Klamath Falls, comparing both parts helps you book the visit you actually want.
Start with our manicure and pedicure menu, then use this guide to think through gel versus regular polish, your plans after the appointment and any existing product that needs attention.

What is the difference between gel and regular polish?
Regular nail polish dries without a curing lamp and is removed with polish remover. Gel polish uses a compatible curing lamp to set the coating and has a different removal process. Gel polish is a finish, not automatically a service that adds length to your nails.
Gel can suit someone who wants a durable finish and is comfortable planning for removal. Regular polish can suit someone who prefers easier polish changes. Wear varies with the product, application and what you do with your hands or feet, so neither choice comes with a guaranteed number of chip-free days.
For background on how the finishes differ, OPI explains lamp-cured gel polish and traditional polish. Use our service menu for the polish options offered with each Avalon treatment.
Choose the treatment before choosing the polish
If your priority is fresh nail care for your hands, compare Avalon Manicure with Aveda Beautifying Manicure. Avalon Manicure is the simpler nail-care option. Aveda Beautifying Manicure adds a hydration masque and exfoliating care for the hands and arms. The menu lists separate gel-polish options for both.
For feet, compare Express Avalon Pedicure, Avalon Pedicure and Aveda Beautifying Pedicure. Express is the shorter visit. Avalon Pedicure includes a foot and calf massage, while Aveda Beautifying Pedicure adds a hydration masque and exfoliating care. Gel polish is listed for selected pedicures, so check the exact treatment rather than assuming every option includes it.
Polish choice does not replace the differences between those treatments. Decide whether you want a shorter visit or more time for spa care, then check the finish and appointment option shown beside that service.
Think about your plans after the appointment
With regular polish, allow time for drying and ask your nail technician when you can comfortably return to your plans. If you are booking a pedicure before an event, mention your timing and footwear when arranging the visit. With gel, ask what ongoing care and removal the chosen finish will involve.
If you like to change your polish shade often, explain that. If you want to keep the same finish through a trip or a busy stretch, mention that too. These preferences help the team discuss a suitable option without assuming that gel is always the better choice.
Already wearing gel, dip or another nail product?
Tell us what is currently on your nails before booking, especially if it was applied elsewhere. Existing gel polish, dip powder, acrylic or another enhancement can require different removal work. Do not assume a standard manicure or gel-polish option automatically includes every type of removal.
Call the salon to confirm whether removal can be accommodated and whether it changes the appointment length or price. Ask your nail technician how to maintain and remove your particular finish instead of treating all nail products alike.
